Biography

Chef Mark Guatelara was born and raised in the Philippines. He found interest in food working as a delivery driver for his mom’s catering business. He then decided to study culinary arts and was given an opportunity to be a trainee at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes in Orlando, Fl. Guatelara then worked his way up from a cook to running the kitchen of a restaurant in Old Town in Chicago. He then decided to rejoin the Marriott family working for restaurants and catering at the Chicago Marriott O’hare, Orlando World Center Marriott and the Gaylord Texan Resort. He then went back to work in Chicago for a restaurant group before relocating back to Texas where her began work in the catering department at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel. This was his most recent stepping stone to becoming the Executive Chef at Asador, his dream job.

With a passion for food and innovation, and all the training and experience he has garnered through the years, Guatelara is always excited to put his take on known and unknown dishes. Chef Guatelara applies his personality not just in kitchens he works in but in the food he cooks.
