A native of Texas, Robert Clifford found his calling to cuisine as a child in his grandparents grocery store. Early memories of watching his grandmother prepare exceptional southern dishes became the basis for his deep rooted love for food that speaks of place and comfort. After graduating from culinary school, he worked in Italian and Latin restaurants, but the siren song of the steakhouse called to his West Texas ranching roots and Chef Clifford joined The Capital Grille as a sous chef. During his tenure he won numerous awards, including the prestigious 2015 Dining Out in Dallas Best Chef Award.

In 2015, Chef Clifford joined Nick and Sam’s Steakhouse as Executive Chef and quickly became an indispensable asset to the restaurant, utilizing his excellent palate and flair for creativity in each dish he touched.

Drawn back to the southern cuisine which first captivated him in his grandmother’s kitchen, Chef Clifford would make the move to New Orleans in 2018 and join the Palace Café. As a stalwart of the contemporary creole dining scene in New Orleans, there is no restaurant that more evokes a sense of place than the Palace Café at the foot of the French Quarter. On any given day Chef Clifford can be found serving up classic dishes such as their Andouille Crusted Fish or executing a traditional Shrimp Tchefuncte. He believes the best food is prepared simply with the highest quality, best products and considers it an honor and passion to inspire his guests with the bounty which surrounds the lower Mississippi Delta.
