T.J. Lengnick grew up as a “military brat” in Virginia and Germany and was exposed to a variety of cuisines and cooking styles. His mother and grandmothers helped develop his passion for cooking, teaching him the principles of farm-to-table cooking from an early age.

After attending the New England Culinary Institute, Lengnick moved to Dallas for an internship at Nana in the Anatole under the direction of Chef Doug Brown. TJ then worked at esteemed restaurants such as Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, BLT Steak, Central 214, Stephen Pyles and Jasper’s. At Jasper’s, Lengnick was given the opportunity to work with acclaimed Chef and Restaurateur Kent Rathbun. Impressed by Lengnick’s culinary and creative talent, the Rathbuns and Fearing’s asked Lengnick to join their team at Shinsei as Chef de Cuisine in 2008.

In 2010, Lengnick left Shinsei to open Whiskey Cake, a farm-to-table concept in North Dallas. After a buzzy opening and receiving much acclaim from local media, Lengnick returned to Shinsei as Executive Chef in October of 2012. In October 2017, Lengnick joined the opening team of the new Dee Lincoln Prime. Lengnick says, “I was blown away when Dee asked me to join her team. I feel I’ve been training for this my entire career. It is an honor to be working for a legend in this industry.” He now serves as Executive Chef of Dee Lincoln Prime in the Frisco at The Star.
