Here at KidLinks we have some exciting news to share! Because of the immense generosity of our wonderful donors, we are able to house a Music Therapist in Residence at the Music Therapy Clinic at Southern Methodist University. KidLinks’ history with SMU actually goes way back, but this is the inaugural J.W. Brown Music Therapist in Residence Program that is already in full swing! To celebrate, we had a small gathering in the beautiful Owens Art Building at SMU, where the clinic is located. Be sure to check out some of the pictures from the night below. Not only are we excited that we can expand our Music Therapy services across the metroplex, but we are so excited that we’ll be able to provide observation and learning opportunities for SMU music therapy students. It is so important for music therapy students to have chances to observe and participate in sessions with actual clients so that they can build their therapeutic skills and learn different perspectives to build their practice. In addition to helping kids within the area, we hope to be a supportive outlet for future music therapists. Currently we are accepting clients of varying diagnoses or reason for therapy who are 18 years old or younger. We already have a great group of wonderful clients, but still have a few open spots to fill! If you feel you know someone who may benefit from music therapy services, we would love to chat and help answer any questions. Feel free to contact on any of our social media outlets or emailing: Info@KidLinks.org
