Fall is just around the corner! Although it’s going to be hot for a little longer here in north Texas, I am ready to celebrate fall! There are just so many great things, associated with fall, that we can use in our music therapy sessions to address cognitive goals. Things like the changing colors, counting pumpkins in a pumpkin patch, or even having the client describe what they see when fall comes around (which can also address expressive language skills). That is what I wanted to include in our blog post for this month. I have adapted a song, “I Can Sing A Rainbow” by: Peggy Lee, to describe things that we see happen in fall. To go along with the song, I have included a few pictures of those items, however they are within a larger picture. So, the client will have to scan the picture to find the described item. I love doing this with kids because I don’t always have to talk about 1 item, I can ask them various questions about the picture they see which creates a larger dialogue.
